Challenge
The Lab Corp had outgrown its existing space in Phoenix, Arizona. The company provides clinical laboratory and drug development services including comprehensive blood testing. The facility underwent an extensive remodel and addition of its building. This project consisted of an existing building remodel for a blood testing lab space of approximately 37,000 square feet. The critical nature of the activity being conducted in the facility meant all systems had to be functional and optimized immediately upon turnover.
Approach
KFI’s technical commissioning team provided third-party commissioning for the upgrade and lab space addition to the existing blood testing facility. Our commissioning effort included HVAC, controls, plumbing RO/DI systems, and emergency power systems.
Outcome
Completed in 2019, the new facility now provides an expanded safe, and secure location to provide diagnostics and develop innovative new medicines for the world population’s benefit.
